Brain Energy Support Team (BEST) team members had the opportunity to recently tour a new, groundbreaking and state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility in Tacoma, Washington. CHI Franciscan Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital is a 60-bed freestanding rehabilitation hospital that provides customized, intense rehabilitation tailored to the individual needs of those recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation and orthopedic injury. The treatment team consists of specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, clinical dietary services, pharmacy services, neuropsychology, and rehabilitation nursing. Each patient also has a personalized case manager assigned to them from admission to discharge.

CHI Franciscan Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital has a dedicated unit devoted to neurological wellness and stroke recovery. The hospital also features a 12-bed, low-stimulus, secure, brain-injury unit equipped with state-of-the-art technology and safety features, along with physical and occupational therapy areas. An adaptive kitchen and a transition apartment room are also available to practice independent skills before returning home.

Day rooms and other comforts are provided for patient’s families during their loved one’s stay.

Other services include spinal cord rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation.

The hospital will begin taking patients later this month. The hospital is located at 815 S. Vassault Street in Tacoma, Washington.
