Our mission is to provide a safe atmosphere for persons living with brain injury to meet, talk, and learn about living with a brain injury (with the occasional party thrown in).

Vision: Our group is growing and we welcome all. Its a great place to look at our successes and find ways to overcome our obstacles together.

MultiCare/Good Samaritan has agreed to let us use the Olympic Room the first and third Thursday of the month. We look forward to seeing you.

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 2pm to 3pm in conference room B located on the 3rd floor.

Directions:
Park in the parking garage. There are handicapped spots right by the elevators on each floor. Take the elevators to the sky bridge. Walk across to the hospital. Then, once in the hospital take the elevator to the third floor. Make a right turn out of the elevator, walk pass the stairs to conference room B on your right.

What is a brain injury support group?
Our brain injury support group exists to allow people with brain injury and their family members to meet others who are in similar situations, gain valuable emotional support from one another, form friendships, obtain information and resources, and hear speakers discuss a variety of brain injury topics. They are opportunities for both people with brain injury and their family members to discuss the difficulties and hardships they are facing, as well as the accomplishments and joys in their life.
Many individuals avoid support groups because they feel that they are only complaint sessions that focus on the negative aspects of life after brain injury, but this is not the case. Support groups can be an opportunity for individuals to support and encourage one another, not only through the rough times but also through the good times.

Once a month Cascade Park hosts an open traumatic brain injury (TBI) support group. As part of the state-wide TBI project, we are moving forward with providing the resources and tools necessary for people to deal with acquired brain injuries. The support group is free of charge and open to all members of the community involved with TBI in some way. Meetings take place at Cascade Park Active Day, although the support group is independent of our TBI Adult Day Health Program.

What is a support group?

A support group is a place to share stories and experiences related to TBI. Support groups are available for survivors, care providers, family members, friends, and professionals working with TBI. At a support group participants can:

* Learn more about life with TBI
* Share successful strategies and achievements to help others develop coping skills
* Be comfortable sharing personal experiences (in a confidential setting) of both difficult and successful times
* Find out about the newest trends and information related to TBI
* Feel supported by having peers who have gone through similar situations
* Benefit from socializing and building friendships in a safe environment
* Get involved in the community
