Caregivers, this one is for you!
Starting today and going forward on each Tuesday of this holiday season, The Brain Energy Support Team (BEST ) is going to share two holiday survival tips for caregivers. While the holidays can be really fun and joyous, for caregivers, the hectic holiday pace and added responsibilities can prove to be stressful and even overwhelming.
BEST is here to help with that.
And caregivers, feel free to chime in and share your tips, tools, resources and strategies of your own. We’d love to hear from you!
Today’s tips (adapted from the article, “Stress and the Holidays: Coping Strategies to Keep You Sane” by Helen Hunter, ACSW, CMSW, from caregiver.com).
1. The first thing to realize is that it is okay to cry. This can be a tough time for many. It is natural to feel depressed when your friends are having the ideal family gathering. Allow yourself to express your inner feelings.
2. The second thing to remember is to control the holidays, do not let them control you. This requires planning. Start planning ahead for what you will do.
